Adopt-an-Orchid

Our orchid project is growing rapidly and we almost ready to start producing orchid seedlings using in-vitro cultivation.  The orchid collection includes over 100 species and most of them are producing seeds in our shade house and canopy grids.  Several of our orchids are rare and have only been reported a few times. We also started producing exclusive canopy orchids with our new "Canopy Farming" techniques.  The sustainable development of orchid seedlings is one of the creative ways that Rara Avis hopes to manage rainforest for profit.  By adopting an orchid you can help us in our mission to develop alternatives land-uses for local farmers - and to help save rainforest!!

Apart from the purchase of orchid seedlings you can help us by adopting an orchid.  The shade house and canopy grids that currently house our cultivation collection consist of individually tagged plants.  Each plant is identified in our database by a unique collection number.  By adopting an orchid you can help provide us with the financial support needed to start producing seedlings from that particular plant.  A marginal fee of $30 per year will provide us with the necessary vials and growth medium to produce hundreds of seedlings per plant.  The project is in its initial stages and currently contains approximately 500 orchids.

How to adopt an orchid...

Please send $30 checks for each plant you would like to adopt to the address below.  As soon as we receive your payment and address we will send you an adoption certificate, your orchid number and more information on your orchid.
